Adults over the age of 18years can only obtain an Attestation of Birth.
An Attestation of birth is a legal document issued to back up the Age Declaration Affidavit of an individual who is over 18 years of age.
So, if you are applying either through the Federal Express Entry Program or through the Provincial Nominee Program, do not use an Age Declaration Affidavit alone or Birth Certificate when applying for permanent residence in Canada, and do not use an Attestation of Birth for any of your children below the age of 18 years!
If you have an Age Declaration Affidavit before, you may take it to the nearest National Population Commission (NPC) office and they will give you the relevant forms to fill in order to get your Attestation of Birth document.
If you do not have an Age Declaration Affidavit, you can still go to the nearest National Population Commission (NPC) office and they will advice you appropriately on what to do.
