Food poisoning can occur from almost any type of food. Infectious organisms or their toxins are the most common causes of food poisoning, itโ€™s an illness caused by food contaminated with bacteria or molds. In Nigeria, millions of this particular case happens every year. So here are some signs of food poisoning you need to know about.

Dehydration

When you notice food poisoning in your body system, shun drinks containing caffeine and alcohol because they have dehydration properties, instead drink plenty of water and also small portion of soft foods like bread, rice, and bananas can be eaten too to avoid dehydration.

Diarrhea is a dominant symptom of food poisoning, we have different types of diarrhea but the food poison diarrhea is the bloody one. Diarrhea can be as a result of flu and still the diarrhea in food poisoning is always bloody and itโ€™s caused by the bacteria E.coli and Campylobacter.

Nausea and Vomiting

Nausea and vomiting are two mutual symptoms that appear in food poisoning and it depending on the type of bacteria that infected the food in question. Some food bacteria that cause nausea and vomiting are Salmonella and Listeria bacteria. So when nausea and vomiting occurs caution should be taken too because they could be signs of food poisoning.
